Local agencies, including the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, Planned Industrial
Expansion Authority, Land Clearance Redevelopment Authority, and Port KC, will provide insights to help
participants leverage these resources to their advantage.
Grant Funding for Black Owned Businesses in Kansas City
We are proud to collaborate with Kansas City GIFT and The Porterhouse KC to present this session.
Participants will discover specific programs and funding options tailored for Black-owned businesses and
developers in the Kansas City area. Additionally, back-office resources provided by each agency will be
discussed, empowering participants with the necessary tools for business stabilization and growth. This
workshop aims to promote inclusivity and support equitable development practices.
Alternative Capital Strategies
In this dynamic workshop, we'll explore innovative funding strategies beyond traditional sources. From

Intermediate Real Estate Developer Workshops

Authority (KCATA) along with expert developers, including Harold Johnson of CJRD, will share their

Equitable Public Private Partnerships
In this critical workshop, we'll explore how to foster strategic and equitable public-private partnerships,
with a special emphasis on the intersection of health and real estate development. Participants will

HUD: Choice Neighborhood Initiatives
The Choice Neighborhoods Initiative program leverages significant public and private dollars to support locally driven strategies that address struggling neighborhoods with distressed public or HUD-assisted housing through a comprehensive approach to neighborhood transformation. Local leaders, residents, and stakeholders, such as public housing authorities, cities, schools, police, business owners, nonprofits, and private developers, come together to create and implement a plan that revitalizes distressed HUD housing and addresses the challenges in the surrounding neighborhood. Funding Economic & Real Estate Development for Black and Minority Developers
